Tracing its roots to over 160 years ago when much of the land was being cleared by pioneer Mennonite families, the St. Jacobs Mennonite Church continues to be an active congregation in the community today.
In 1889, the Erb Street Mennonite Church (then called David Eby) experienced some division between the more conservative and progressive members. While the split was fairly amicable, a more tenuous split would occur in St. Jacobs.
